Ukraine refugee free travel

We are delighted to announce that we are joining other operators nationwide in giving free onward travel to Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country to live with sponsors. They just need their passport and boarding pass from the last 48 hours to travel on our services for free.

The offer, which will run initially for three months, is valid on all Thames Valley Buses including Newbury & District and Reading Buses. This also includes Green Line 702 and 703 services from London and Heathrow.

Robert Williams, chief executive officer, said to the local press: “At this incredibly difficult time for the Ukrainian people we are happy to help give them a warm welcome and make their arrival as straightforward as possible. Ukrainian nationals will simply need to show the driver their passport and a boarding pass which confirms arrival to the UK within the past 48 hours. They will then be able to travel for free to their destination.”

Reading Buses said the town's Ukrainian community centre, on Sidmouth Street, has been "snowed under" with donations since the war began. Consequently, the firm expects "to see a number of Ukrainian refugees arrive in the town in the coming weeks."
